The second member of staff I interviewed at the BPAS clinic in Bournemouth was clinical nurse manager, Abigail Smith.
Abigail has worked for BPAS for six years now and leads the clinical team in Bournemouth.
She explained during the interview that she first qualified as a midwife around the same time that BPAS were starting to accept midwifes to apply for roles within the organisation.
She explained how she thought working for BPAS encompassed everything she believed midwifery was about; supporting women and helping people through difficult times.
When asked why she decided to enter the termination sector of healthcare Abigail said:
"It felt exactly right as a newly qualified midwife with loads of gumption and energy to come into maybe one of the cinderella services which wasn't, at that time, getting much attention."
Abigail made it clear during her interview that she will never let the protesters make her feel bad about what she does as a job. She strongly believes that the healthcare they provide at BPAS has helped and continues to help many women up and down the country and said that it would be a crime to stop providing abortion services.
